Win A Ticket to Blog 08
Folks, we have a new competition open to members of the London Bloggers meetup. The organisers of the Blog08 conference in Amsterdam have kindly donated a ticket for one lucky punter to attend the conference on the 24th October free of charge. These tickets normally cost 195 Euro, or at todays exchange rate around £154, so this is a fantastic prize for any blogger.
Why would you want to go to Blog08 I hear you ask?
Well, check out the website for more details but essentially if you want to meet high profile bloggers, network and learn about how to take your blog from good to great, you could do a lot worse than popping over to Amsterdam for the day.
What do you have to do to win this ticket then?
It’s another prize based on the quality of your comments, whether that is written, video or audio. Simply answer the following question:
I am a blogger and I deserve to win the free ticket to Blog08 because…?
The comments will be judged based on entertainment, the more entertaining your comment, the more likely you are to win. The deadline for entries is Friday October 3rd.
Good luck everyone!
UPDATE, STOP THE PRESS: Our friends over at Essential Travel have now bundled in return flights to Amsterdam along with travel insurance for the lucky winner.
What are you waiting for? Record your video, or audio, or of course feel free to write your entry now… all of which can be done in the comments below!!

I am a blogger and I deserve to win the free ticket to Blog08 because…?
I don’t just want to win the blog competition; I think I need too…
I am not a high priced call girl, or a Marine returning from Iraq or Afghanistan, nor do I drive a New York cab. I’m a 34 year old woman living in south east London with her partner, two rescue dogs, three chickens and a leaky kitchen tap. I’m a struggling writer and photographer, I plan in the near future to become a farmer (which I will blog about, naturally), and I watch far too many episodes of Murder, She Wrote. It is unlikely based on this information that someone is going to offer me a movie deal to turn my ‘hilarious’ blog exploits into big screen magic. No, I struggle to get new readers let alone to be talent spotted. But surprisingly I do get readers – and from all over the world. I guess a blog dedicated to mapping the small everyday victories that make us happy but so quickly get forgotten has its place. I may not be scaling Everest, fighting insurgents or hanging with the A-list, or even the Z-list, but against all the odds, blogging about our disasterous carrot crop last year when the largest carrot was half the size of a bookies pencil, seems to appeal to some. It’s not that I don’t deal with the big issues; cancer, death, redundancy, environmental issues, politics, uncertainty – it’s all there, but not at the expense of hope and humour.
But I am ambitious, and I am a good writer and I’ve been blogging for over two years now, so Amsterdam may just be the break that I need to raise my profile and to learn how to market my blog better. What works and what doesn’t? How do I keep the readers I have happy, whilst at the same time making changes that will help me get new readers? Well, who better to ask than the experts!? And then of course, there is the material I’ll get from just being there and being part of such an exciting conference, to say nothing of visiting a fantastic city which I’ve always wanted to visit. That’s got to be three or four blog entries right there and surely I owe that to my readers who want to read about more than just walking the dogs and tomato blight?
And here is my video entry – although the joke about me not being able to do an iMovie doesn’t work anymore as I recorded this video a week ago and have do another one since for my blog ;-)

I’m not entering, but wanted to make a comment that having a London Bloggers Meetup del.icio.us page might be a nice idea… if we had a universal login and password, we could tag stuff on there that’s relevant to the meetups: blog posts, flickr sets, stuff like that? Or we could just create a “londonbloggers” tag on there and post stuff to our own individual accounts?
I am a blogger and I deserve to win the free ticket to blog 08 because I would become intolerable to live with if I got a chance to meet other bloggers and that would really piss my children off and that would be a good thing. Lx
I have popped back to find that my comment has disappeared…..so. I’m trying again. I am a blogger and I deserve to win the free ticket to blog 08 because I will become intolerable to live with if I get to spend some time meeting real live bloggers and that will really piss my children off. Which is a good thing. Not sure how I cope with trying to explain that I am off to meet a whole bunch of people I met through the internet….when they’re not allowed to do that. Lx
Here you go – I’m having a bit of trouble with the audio, but should be able to fix it shortly.
My entry comment seems to have vanished, but that’s okay. I’ll just put the link again:
I found your site via Google while searching for exchange farmer insurance and your post regarding Ticket to Blog 08 : LondonBloggers.net looks very interesting to me.
