Bloggers Wanted – Seriously, What Happened?
I know, I know, it’s taken me almost a week to blog about the last Meetup, but that’s not to say it wasn’t a good night. In fact, it was perhaps the best event yet! Why’s that I hear you ask? Well, I’ll tell you.
We’ve moved to a new venue, a pub called The Coach & Horses in Soho. Why is this a good thing? Well for a start we had a private room with it’s own fully staffed bar. Not only that, we had free Wi-Fi, a big screen TV and fantastic food – check out the crayfish sandwiches next time you go.
Our friendly legal expert Mr Robert Lands – a Partner at law firm Finers Stephens Innocent LLP no less – delivered a fantastic presentation all about the legal issues us bloggers need to know about. Robert not only knows his subject inside out, but he’s able to talk about the subject with a good degree of humour, not something typically associated with the legal profession. You can see Robert’s slides on slideshare courtesy of group friend Improbulus – who has also written a good post summarising Robert’s presentation.
UPDATE 27/7/08 I’ve added the fantastic Slideshare plugin which means I can now embedded Robert’s slides below, enjoy:
A friendly journalist from the Metro came along to find out what our community is all about. I had a good chat with her as did a host of other group members. Keep your eyes peeled for the write-up in the Metro at some stage in the next few weeks.
Our friends at Qype kindly sponsored the event paying for quite a lot of drinks as it happens. We actually racked up a couple of hundred pounds behind the bar with at least a handful of folks knocking the Sambucas back! Don’t forget to enter the ‘Reviews = Booze’ competition for the chance of winning a £50 bar tab at the Coach & Horses along with a dinner for two!
And of course we had about 25 group members turn up – a little shy of the total RSVPs, but still enough for a really good evening.
The next Meetup is scheduled for the 29th April. If you’d like to come along I suggest you sign-up before the Metro article is published, after which you may find the places fill up quickly. Keep checking back to this site and the Meetup page for developments.
Thanks for coming everyone and don’t forget to check out the Moosaic!
