5 Must-See Attractions for Bloggers in London
If you’re spending the summer in London this year or perhaps just planning a brief visit, it’s worth taking a look at these top attractions for the true London experience.
There are attractions for everyone, from young students to families which can offer an enriching and exciting experience this summer.
London Eye (4D experience)
The London Eye has been a must-see attraction for many years now as thousands of visitors are attracted by the huge ferris wheel offering 360-degree views over the city. As a prelude to a ride on the Lodnon Eye, a new ‘4D’ experience has been developed allowing visitors to see beyond the flat screen to experience a short film with mist, bubbles and other special effects. It shows a film of a young girl in London whose view of the city is obscured by jostling crowds until she embarks on a flight on the London Eye and can see a view of all the landmarks. With a pair of specially designed 3D glasses, the viewer can see a film like never before with an entertaining, visually spectacular experience suitable for the whole family.
Buckingham Palace Tour (27th Jul-29th Sep)
For first-time visitors to London or just residents who have never explored Buckingham Palace before, the summer tours are a great opportunity to take a closer look at one of London’s most popular landmarks. This tour allows visitors to fully absorb the history of the British monarchy with a special exhibition to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the Queen’s coronation in 1953.
Film4 Summer Screen (Exact dates TBC)
Film4 Summer Screen events have become immensely popular in recent years as visitors can watch a choice of classic movies on a huge outdoor screen set on the backdrop of the beautiful Somerset House. With good weather, this can be a great event and you can take a picnic blanket to enjoy the movie with friends or family. Be sure to head down early as the event can be very busy and it’s best to get a good spot to enjoy a view of the film.
Notting Hill Carnival (25th-26th August)
Notting Hill Carnival is a feast for the eyes as dancers parade through the streets dressed in full carnival gear with colourful feather dresses and headpieces (see photo above).
Set to traditional African music and steel drums with a vast offering of delicious snacks and foods, the Notting Hill Carnival is an event you won’t want to miss. Be prepared to tackle the crowds as this is a particularly popular event in the summer but you can easily take advantage of one of the many cafes and coffee shops in the Notting Hill area.
BBC Proms 2013 (12th Jul- 7th Sep)
For fans of classical music, the BBC Proms held at London’s Royal Albert Hall is a spectacle for the ears and eyes. For 2013, the Proms is comprised of 92 concerts showcasing the talents of some of the world’s most popular and admired classical musicians. For a good view of the show, you can purchase a standing ticket for just £5 and stand in the central Arena.
