London Bloggers in 2013
It has been a great start to the year for the London Bloggers community.
Our first monthly social ‘Blogging Resolutions‘ was a great success. We had just shy of 100 bloggers join to listen to our panel talk about how they plan to get the most out of their blogging this year. Thanks to Marko, Simon and Eva (see photo above) for sharing their thoughts, experiences and wisdom.
What else is coming up this year?
It looks like we’re going to have a busy year and we’re packing the calendar with great stuff for the blogging community. Here’s a quick run down of what’s coming up:
London Bloggers Meetups / :
The Sharing Economy and Social Media, February 12th
Featuring guest speakers from Airbnb, tripbod, hirespace.com and the sharing economy podcast, we’ll be discussing the importance of the growing trend to share, rather than own, great stuff. We will also be looking at the use of social media and blogging as a way to shout about the sharing economy.
Our friends a Freeagent, the small business and freelancer accounting solution, are putting £500 behind the bar at this event too. Get there early to grab a free drink or two.
After that we have…
Multi-Author & Community Blogging, March 11th
Music, Blogging & Social Media, April 9th
Blogging for Good, May 14th
We’re also working on another wine blogging event too. These have always proved popular in the past and I’m sure this one will be no exception. Keep your eyes open for news of this to be released soon and if you’re on twitter, make sure you follow- the hashtag .
LBM Audible, the London Bloggers Podcast:
We’ll be producing a bi-weekly podcast all about blogging this year. We plan to talk to all manner of guests about their experiences with blogging.
So far we’ve spoken to Mark Schaefer from the Ghrow blog which was a really interesting conversation. Mark gives some advice for brand new bloggers, describes the different approach businesses need to take to blogging, talks about telling stories, being patient and why he sees blogging as a central element of his content marketing and much more. Click here to subscribe via iTunes.
Who’s next?
We’ll be speaking to the team behind the community blog shareable, Marcus Sheridan from the Sales Lion blog, Mitch Joel from Six Pixels of separation and a whole bunch more.
London Bloggers Community Blog
Just in case it needs clarifying, the London Bloggers Community Blog is what you are reading right now.
We’ll soon be upgrading the way it looks and feels so it’s much more user friendly. We are also inviting members of our community to write guest blog posts too. We want this to be a community blog so everyone is welcome to contribute one or more posts about their experiences with blogging.
We will also be continuing to run our blogger interview series also. If you would like to take part just get in touch.
You will soon also be able to sign-up to a monthly email summary of all the latest blog posts each month to help those who like to use email.
London Blogger All Stars / #LBMAllstars
We’re working with leading gamification company leaderboarded to create a list of Blogger All Stars from our community.
Any member can join the competition and we’ll be creating a chart to see who is the most active blogger. The secret sauce behind the leaderboard rankings will be looking at factors such as the number of blog posts published each month and importantly, the number of comments too.
More details coming very soon. Watch this space.
Prizes and Competitions
Regulars LBM’ers will have noticed that nuffnangX, the mobile blogging and commenting platform, have been regularly joining us and running prize draws at our events. Don’t be surprised to see them throughout the year with great little prize draws to tempt you. You can find out more about nuffnangX here.
WooThemes has also just agreed to provide some themes and more to give away as prizes too. If you want to upgrade your blog look and feel, join us at a London Bloggers Meetup and see if you can win a free WooTheme.
Is that it?
No. We’re working on a handful of other projects and ideas to make the London Bloggers community the first place to go for blogging ideas, advice, inspiration.
Thanks for being part of the London Bloggers Meetup community.
